We consider Britain in the 195Os especially questions of social, political, cultural and economic change. We will examine Britain's role in the emergence of the Cold War, women's experiences of war and post-war social roles and intellectual trends.  Britain's retreat from Empire and responses to the development of the Common Market are also explored.  The course is illustrated with clips from newsreels, documentary and feature films.

Date: Tuesdays Time: 10.30am – 12.30pm.

An eight week course examining the consequences of the American intervention in Vietnam from 1954 to 1975 and its impact on SE Asia.

2) Kennedy and Vietnam 1960-1963
3) Secret War in Thailand and Laos 1962-1975
4) Johnson’s War - Vietnam 1964-1967
5) Turning Point - The Tet Offensive 1968
6) The Anti-War Movement 1969-1973
7) The Nixon-Mao Accord 1972-1973
8) The American Withdrawal 1973-1975

Tea and coffee are provided N. b. Parking is available
